Welcome to our farm!
We’re so glad you’re here!
Let us introduce ourselves. We’re Jeremy and Anna Estabrook, farm managers for Haystack Gardens. Together with our children, we collect eggs, milk cows, set up paddocks to move the animals to fresh pasture, and feed and give water to the animals under our care. We are committed to improving soil health in order to heal the land. We intensively graze ruminants with chickens following a few days behind to have them clean up.
Transparent: We enjoy being vetted by our customers, allowing them to know our practices because they’ve come to see and ask questions about our processes. We don’t claim to be perfect; there are lots of things we’re still working on improving. We want to always be transparent even if that is to our hurt. We aim to always make it right.
Nutritious: We add nutrients to the soil with animal impact, adding abundant biodiversity which improves nutrition for plants, thus feeding humans better.
Holistic: We don’t spray, unless it’s water, for fun. Seriously though, we are committed to being all natural in our animal care and weed control. We will find another solution to a problem rather than jumping right into any chemical applications on the land. We have used antibiotics on a cow once after a prolapsed uterus, for her own health and to keep her alive after a major problem. We don’t worm our animals because we want to keep nematodes and other microscopic friends content on our land.
We enjoy being part of a community that cares about where their food comes from and is committed to sharing resources and time to be part of one another’s lives. Consider this your invitation if that resonates with you!
The name of our farm was inspired by Jeremy's paternal grandparents. Lee and Mary Estabrook established a garden center and event venue in the late 1970s in Cannon Beach, Oregon called Haystack Gardens. The village features Haystack Rock, a 235 foot monolithic intertidal structure which resembles the shape of a traditional haystack. Cannon Beach is also where Jeremy and Anna met.
The name Haystack Gardens brings together our ideas of farming and beauty. An integral part of a regenerative farm must include perennial grasses. We've chosen gardens over farm to emphasize that farms should be a place of romance and beauty that is both aromatically and aesthetically pleasing.
